Many of us who were addicted to crystal meth in the past began our recovery in other 12 step groups. Here, we developed a good foundation for our recovery.
We learned the serenity prayer, the 12 steps and the 12 traditions. Some of us sought therapy or tried repeatedly to get clean in rehab or a treatment center with ambiguous results. Through these venues we did begin to see the therapeutic value of one addict helping another.
We sometimes noticed that our drugs of choice and the issues surrounding them were rarely addressed at other fellowships. In fact, words like: tina, crank, GHB, ecstasy, special K (ketamine) and "tweak" were often discouraged or just not understood by our new friends in recovery. Crystal Meth Anonymous is for any person for whom all drugs, specifically crystal meth, have become a problem.
We try to focus not only on the specific drugs we did but more on what we intend to do about our problems today. We just believe that it helps us to find sponsors and friends who share our common experiences people we can relate to.
CMA is a much needed twelve step program. New meetings are cropping up every day Whether we were referred to CMA by an officer of the court, a family member, loved one, or just came into the program of our own free will, we strive for hope and we value who we are becoming without the use of crystal meth.
